The
Bureau of Indian Affairs has named Eugene R. Virden as director of the Alaska regional office.
Virden is a member of the
White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians of Minnesota. He has worked for the BIA since December 1988.
“Eugene Virden’s extensive federal administrative, program and financial management
experience has been of great service to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and its Alaska Regional
Office,” BIA Director Michael Black said in a
press release. “I am pleased that by accepting this appointment he will continue to ensure
that the BIA meets its obligations to the Alaska Native tribes.”
