A well-respected couple from the
Siksika First Nation of Alberta died after being involved in a 10-vehicle collision during a winter storm.
Raymond Crowchief, 65, and his wife, Angeline Leather, 68, suffered injuries during the January 8 accident. Leather passed away on the way to hospital. Crowchief died on January 18.
"He was very humble, kind, generous, deeply spiritual, strong advocate for our Siksika language and culture," niece, Lillian Crowchief, told The Calgary Herald.
"A strong believer in our native way and our spiritual beliefs. A leader amongst the Crowchief family."
Leather was buried on January 18. Services for Crowchief will be held today and tomorrow.
