Supreme Court to hear case over Indian defendant's conviction
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments tomorrow in Bullcoming v. New Mexico.
Donald Bullcoming was convicted of aggravated DWI in New Mexico state court in November 2005. He says his Sixth Amendment rights were violated because he never had the opportunity to question the analyst who performed the blood-alcohol test in court.
The case has drawn significant attention from prosecutors, state governments and defense attorneys. It could change the way DWI cased are handled across the nation.
Bullcoming already completed his sentence on the charge.
