Navajo Nation Council backs lease extension for power plant

The Navajo Nation Council voted 18-2 to extend a lease for a coal-fired power plant on the New Mexico portion of the reservation.
The lease will for the Four Corners Power Plant will run until 2041. The tribe is due to receive $7 million a year, with increases tied to inflation, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
The facility is located near Farmington.
