Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York) doesn't think his proposal to install a radar system along the U.S.-Canada border will infringe on the rights of the
St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.
Schumer said the radar will be used to detect low-flying aircraft and won't be directed at land crossings on the reservation. "It doesn't really complicate it much," Schumer said on a press call when asked about tribal issues, The Watertown Daily Times reported.
The tribe hasn't seen the proposal, a spokesperson said.
