The Omaha Tribe has reportedly entered into an agreement with the
Environmental Protection Agency to upgrade its troubled water system.
From 2008 through 2010, the tribe issued 10 boil water advisories. The problems continued this year when the EPA warned residents in January not to use water without boiling it first.
To address the issue, the tribe has reportedly agreed to keep a close watch on the system and report results to the EPA. The tribe also plans to make upgrades and hire an outside firm to maintain the system for five years.
