Federal prosecutors in Oklahoma decline about 50 percent of Indian Country cases referred to them, the Government Accountability
Office said in a report this week.
Between fiscal years 2005 through 2009, the Western District declined 77 out of 125 violent crime cases. The Northern District declined 12 out of 23 and the Eastern District declined nine out of 10.
The 50 percent rate in Oklahoma is on par with the national declination rate for cases in Indian Country over the five-year period
