Tribal leaders from across the country are descending on Washington, D.C., for the White House Tribal Nations Conference on Thursday.

President Barack Obama will deliver opening and closing remarks at the summit. These portions will be broadcast at www.whitehouse.gov/live.

The remainder of the conference will include discussions with Cabinet officials and representatives of the administration. These will not be online.

As a prelude to the conference, Obama is meeting with a select group of tribal leaders at the White House today. The group includes Tex Hall, the chairman of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota, and Robert Smith, the chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians in California.
