A seven-year-old boy from North Dakota will sing a Lakota flag song for President Barack Obama and attendees of the White House Tribal Nations Conference on Thursday. Hunter Street is a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota. He's also Spirit Lake Dakota on his mother's side. "The traditional way is part of who we are,” his mother, Melissa Merrick, told The Devils Lake Journal. Street has been singing since he was two years old, Merrick said. A YouTube video led to his trip to Washington, D.C. “That’s a real thrill for me, I am so proud of him,” Merrick told the paper.
