The 34th annual Lakota Nation
Invitational kicks off in Rapid City, South Dakota, today.
The event started off as a tournament for boys and girls basketball teams from reservations in the state. But now it's grown to include cultural competitions, art shows, fashion presentations and a powwow.
"We can't even keep track of everything that's going on. This town is loaded with workshops, meetings, educational conferences," Bryan Brewer, LNI director, told The Rapid City Journal.
The event runs through Saturday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
