Sen. Daniel Inouye (D) isn't planning to attach the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act to an omnibus spending bill, a spokesperson said.
The bill would extend the policy of self-determination to Native Hawaiians. It passed the House in February but never came up for a vote in the Senate.
The National Review, a conservative publication, said Inouye is trying to get the bill passed before the end of the 111th Congress. Some Republicans said they oppose such a move.
