The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma is entering a new era with Chief Paula
Pechonick.
Pechonick is the first woman to lead the tribe. She hopes to restore some of the programs that the tribe lost when it was taken of the list of federally recognized tribes.
"I think the tribe is very happy with their new chief," Pechonick told The Tulsa World.
Pechonick also plans to revamp the tribal newspaper, fix the community center roof and update the tribal rolls.
