Blackfeet Nation man sentenced for not registering as sex offender
Donald Carl Salois, a member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana, was sentenced to two years in prison, following by a lifetime of supervised released, for failing to register as a sex offender.

Salois pleaded guilty in July after he failed to notify authorities of his current address. He had been updating his Sexual Violent Offender Registration form but lapsed sometime earlier this year, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Montana.

The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act requires all offenders, including those in Indian Country, to register with the appropriate authorities. The law requires tribes to start their own registry systems or cede jurisdiction to the state.
