The anti-incumbent mood across the nation didn't affect two Indian lawmakers in Washington.

Jeff Morris (D), who is Tsimshian, won an eighth term to represent the 40th House District. He defeated Republican John Swapp by more than 3,500 votes.

John McCoy (D), a member of the Tulalip Tribes, won his fifth term for the 38th House District. He defeated Republican Hugh Fleet by nearly 2,900 votes.

One incumbent didn't fare as well. Claudia Kauffman (D), a member of the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho, is lost her bid for a second term in the 47th Senate District to Republican Joe Fain.

Finally, Dino Rossi, who is part Tlingit, lost to Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat. Tribes have not supported Rossi, who once ran a negative ad about Indian gaming.
