The Upper Sioux Community of Minnesota broke ground on a $1.6 million water supply system.
The existing system doesn't meet the needs of the reservation. The new project will provide enough water for the next 20 years.
"With the assistance of the state of Minnesota in the amount of $750,000 we’re going to undertake the project starting today,” Chairman Kevin Jensvold said, The Granite Falls Advocate Tribune reported.
The state funded the project in an appropriations bill.
