Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico has barred residents from trick-or-treating in response to a brutal murder on the reservation.
Lucas Michael Ray Steven Toledo, 22, was charged with stabbing Matthew Panana, 21, to death and attempting to disembowel him.
Tribal leaders are worried the incident might be linked to some type of "cult" activity, The Santa Fe New Mexican reported.
"That really made me and my Tribal Council and my religious leaders step back and take a look at where are we now," Gov. Joshua Madalena told the paper.
Trick-or-treating and Halloween aren't a part of tribal culture, Madalena said.
