Little Traverse Bay Bands votes down change in council salary
The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan voted on four compensation statutes.

The tribal council easily approved changes in compensation for the chairman and vice chairman, the election board, the tribal prosecutor and tribal court judges. But a statute affecting compensation for the tribal council was rejected by a 5-4 vote.

"If everybody has to take cuts, it doesn't look good for council to get what appears to be a raise," legislative leader Julie Shananaquet told The Petoskey News-Review.

Elders had spoken against the changes for the tribal council at a meeting earlier this month.
