Maya Torralba, a member of the Kiowa Tribe, is running for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
Torralba, a Democrat, wants to represent House District 56, which is home to the Kiowa, Delaware, Apache and other tribes. Her opponent is incumbent Phil Richardson, a Republican.
"We’re very strong people here. We’re very determined," Torralba, 32, told Indian Country Today.
