The White Mountain Apache Tribe is using a $2.4 million stimulus grant to build a native plant nursery on the Fort Apache Reservation in Arizona.
The nursery will replace a greenhouse the burned in a fire. The project will employ about 80 tribal members.
“The challenges are huge, but the opportunities are there. The seed of life will begin here," Chairman Ronnie Lupe said at the groundbreaking, The White Mountain Independent reported.
The money came from the U.S. Forest Service.
