A nurse who worked at Indian Health Service facilities in Washington was killed by a mountain goat during a hike in Olympic National Park.
Bob Boardman was trying to warn others about an aggressive goat when he was gored on Saturday. He was 63.
"I would classify him as a very friendly, gentle, intelligent, engaging person who was very dedicated to medical care," Dr. Ron Bergman, who supervises the IHS clinic for the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, told The Peninsula Daily News.
Boardman worked on diabetes care at the clinic. He also provided services to an IHS facility on the Makah Nation.
