A member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Michigan was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for assaulting her handicapped son.
Theresa Marie Finfrock, 31, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury. She admitted she attacked her seven-year-old son at her home on the reservation.
The boy sustained substantial brain injuries and later died, the FBI said in a press release.
In other news, the George Vernon Rogers, Jr., also a tribal member, pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual abuse of a minor. He was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison.
