The Alaska Federation of Natives holds its annual convention October 21-23 in Fairbanks.
This year's theme is “Village Survival!” “This is a declaration that the villages will survive and thrive, and an invitation to discuss how,” AFN spokesperson Erin Fogg told The Fairbanks Daily News Miner.
Hot topics include subsistence, government contracting and climate change.
AFN is also expected to vote on a potential endorsement of Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R), a member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.
