The Muscogee Nation of Florida hasn't seen much action on its federal recognition bill.
S.530
and H.R.1899
were introduced in early 2009. But neither the House nor the Senate have held a hearing on the bill although Chief Ann Tucker testified at a Senate Indian Affairs
Committee oversight hearing nearly a year ago.
“When we first started to try, the group averaged an 8th grade education and we certainly don’t have a budget for lobbyists,” Tucker told The Watson Sun. “But we are fairly intelligent and are not afraid.”
