First Nations across Canada are participating in a One Laptop Per Child pilot program.
The laptops come with eight programs targeted to Native youth. One program features artist Buffy Sainte-Marie while others focus on water issues and substance abuse.
The laptops also contain a library with books by Native authors. Up to 5,000 computer are being provided to Native students.
"This is really going to raise the roof, as far as learning goes for the kids," Balan Menon, the principal of the Otetiskiwin Kiskinwamahtowekamik on the Nelson House First Nation in Manitoba, told The Winnipeg Free Press.
The Belinda Stronach Foundation provided funding for the program.
