The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Alberta says film director James Cameron will lend his support to possible litigation over oilsands development.
Chief Allan Adam met with the Avatar director on Tuesday. He said Cameron might help finance a lawsuit against the Canadian government.
"He didn't express the fact that how much he would be able to contribute, but he did express the fact that he will help in some way," Adam told CBC News.
The band is worried about pollution from oilsands development. The reserve sits downstream from a mining area that Cameron visited.
