The Indian Health Service will be asked to respond to the preliminary results of an ongoing investigation at a Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing this morning.

The committee has reviewed over 100,000 pages of documents, visited IHS facilities and conducted interviews as part of the probe. A spokesperson said today's hearing, which focuses on the Aberdeen Area of the IHS, will reveal some highly negative information about the agency.

Additionally, Department of Health and Human Services is conducting an investigation. The deputy inspector general is scheduled to testify.

The committee's investigation will result in a report on the Aberdeen Area. Allegations center on mismanagement.

Today's hearing will be webcast at indian.senate.gov, starting at 10am. A business meeting that was scheduled for today has been postponed.
