The Ho-Chunk Nation of
Wisconsin swore in the first chief of its new police department.
Daniel Libke, 39, is a tribal member from the Bear Clan. He will help the tribe get its law enforcement force off the ground.
"There is a lot of work to be done in establishing the Ho-Chunk Nation police department,” Libke said at the swearing-in ceremony, The Tomah Journal reported. “It’ll take a lot of time, a lot of planning and a lot of work, but in the end, having a fully functioning police department will be well worth the effort."
Wisconsin is a Public Law
280 state.
