Assistant
Secretary Larry Echo Hawk will attend a groundbreaking for a $7.2 million school improvement project on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.
The work at the St. Francis Indian School is the Interior Department's 4000th American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project.
The school will get a new gym and kitchen facilities.
“The Recovery Act has given us a great opportunity to meet some of our longstanding infrastructure
challenges in Indian Country, including refurbishing schools,” Secretary Ken Salazar said in a press release. “We are thrilled to be able to fund this project that will improve the learning environment for Native
American school children at the St. Francis Indian School.”
