The Navajo Nation Department of Justice wants to entities to work together on the upcoming Shiprock Fair.
The tribe said the Shiprock Chapter has the authority to run the annual event through its Northern Navajo Fair Board. But a legal opinion says the chapter should cooperate with the non-profit Shiprock Navajo Fair Inc.
Both groups say they are running this year's popular event. The chapter has received a temporary permit to hold the parade on October 2.
