The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York received a $10.5 million grant to improve broadband Internet service on the reservation.
The grant will bring high-speed Internet to about 3,750 people on the reservation. It will also help about 200 businesses.
Other Indian County recipients included the Jicarilla Apache Nation of New Mexico ($11.8 million) and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony of Nevada ($400,000). Another recipient will use a $2.2 million to bring service to the Havasupai Reservation in Arizona.
"The broadband projects announced today will give rural Americans access to the tools they need to create jobs and access improved health care and educational opportunities," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a press release.
