Wandering polar bear visits Shamattawa First Nation in Manitoba
Residents of the Shamattawa First Nation in Manitoba spotted a polar bear on the reserve on Sunday. The RCMP found the bear swimming and drinking in the Shamattawa River. The bear eventually left the area when darkness fell. "This is the first time anyone in the area remembers seeing a polar bear," RCMP Sgt. Noel Allard told CBC News after speaking to several elders. Shamattawa is about 248 miles south of the area where polar bears are normally seen. Get the Story:
