More Indian children going into foster care system in North Dakota
More and more Native American children are going into foster care in North Dakota, according to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System.

In 2009, American Indian and Alaska Native children were 37 percent of the foster care population. That's up from 29 percent in 2008 in a state where Native Americans under 18 were only 5.6 percent of the population.

Overall, Native children make up 2 percent of the nation's foster care system.
