A leader of the non-recognized Independent Traditional Seminole Nation of Florida was ordered to pay child support in a long-running case.

Bobby C. Billie, 65, fathered two children with Holly Baker, a non-Indian woman who is 25 years younger. He said the laws of the state didn't apply to him as a member of a sovereign entity.

But a judge said Billie "subjected himself to the laws of Florida" by engaging in a relationship with a non-tribal member. Baker said she's owed about $40,000 in back payments.
