The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida fired its police chief after just 5 months on the job, The Miami Herald reports.
Neither the tribe nor Thomas Loughren would explain the reasons for the dismissal. "`I can confirm I am no longer the Miccosukee police chief as of today," Loughren told the paper.
The media has scrutinized the tribe's police department in light of a fatal accident that involved tribal members.
