The Senate Indian Affairs
Committee and the Senate Banking Committee will hold a joint hearing on Indian housing in South Dakota on August 25.
Sen. Tim Johnson (D-South Dakota), a member of both committees, said he requested the hearing to discuss the "housing crisis" in Indian Country.
“Rural states like South Dakota have a unique set of priorities when it comes to housing, especially across our reservations. It’s important that leaders in Washington make it out to local communities to hear firsthand about the issues we face," Johnson said in a press release.
The hearing will take place at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City.
