House Republicans cast 92 'no' votes on Tribal Law and Order Act
The Tribal Law and Order Act passed the House by a wide margin last week but 92 Republicans still found a way to vote against it.

The bill enjoyed bipartisan support but some Republicans objected because the Senate attached it to H.R.725., the Indian Arts and Crafts Amendments Act. They said the process didn't give them a chance to propose changes.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) was among the Republicans who voted against the bill. His district includes trust land owned by the Winnebago Tribe, the Omaha Tribe and the Ponca Tribe. Native Americans make up about 0.5 percent of the district's population.
