Universities in Oklahoma graduate the largest number of American Indians with bachelor's degrees, according to Diverse Issues in Higher Education.
Northeastern State University, Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma topped the list, which is based on data from 2008-2009.
Three more Oklahoma institutions made the top 12 and, overall, 12 were in the top 100.
The high rate is attributed to the large number of American Indians and Alaska Natives in the state. The universities also tailor their programs for Indian students and work closely with tribes.
