A former corrections officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual abuse of a ward.
Judson P. Elk, 37, admitted that he engaged in a sexual act with an inmate at a BIA detention center in Belcourt, North Dakota. The incident occurred during working hours and was reported by the cellmate of the victim.
Elk faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on October 18, the U.S. Attorney's Office in North Dakota said in a press release.
