Quapaw Tribe to use former school for law enforcement complex
The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma is making plans to boost law enforcement on its lands.

The tribe made a winning bid of $20,000 for a former school. The buildings will be used as the tribe's law enforcement headquarters and to house tribal fire and emergency management services.

The tribe expects to assume the law enforcement powers for trust and restricted lands within its jurisdiction on October 1, according to Secretary Tamara Smiley. The tribe is also negotiating a law enforcement agreement with Ottawa County.
