A member of the Yakama Nation of Washington has donated most of her retirement savings -- about $1.5 million -- for a new school building on the reservation.
Judy Hunter, 66, sent two of her children to the Harrah Christian Community School. Future students will have a permanent 20,400-square-foot building thanks to her donation.
"This is God's school," Hunter told The Yakima Herald-Republic on a tour of the new building, which required another $ 2.5 million loan to complete. Hunter is setting up a non-profit foundation to pay off the debt.
The school has about 50 students, from preschool to eighth grade.
