New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) appointed Theresa Becenti-Aguilar, a member of the Navajo Nation, to the state Public Regulation
Commission.
Becenti-Aguilar serves as the Native American liaison for the PRC. She will represent District 4, which includes parts of the Navajo Nation.
Becenti-Aguilar replaces Carol Sloan, also Navajo, on the commission. Sloan was removed after being convicted of two felonies.
Becenti-Aguilar will serve the remainder of Sloan's term. Becenti-Aguilar is on the November ballot for the District 4 seat, having won the Democratic nomination.
