Members of the Blackfeet Nation
of Montana will vote tomorrow in a general election to fill five council seats.
Willie Sharp Jr., who currently serves as chairman, will face former chairman Earl Old Person to represent the Browning District.
Sharp said the tribe has made advances since Old Person was voted out in 2008.
"We are in an era of prosperity. We're more frugal and calculated in our movements and decisions," Sharp told The Great Falls Tribune. "My philosophy is that why go back when we're making progress?"
Incumbent Paul McEvers will face Debbie White Grass Bull Shoe for another Browning District seat. Incumbent Roger "Sassy" Running Crane is running against former chairman Jesse "Jay" St. Goddard in the Heart Butte District.
State Sen. Shannon Augare (D) and former chairman, William "Bill" Old Chief are seeking the Seville District seat. Woodrow "Jay" Wells and Greg B. Gilham will compete for the Old Agency District seat.
