The Department of Housing and Urban Development is reportedly investigating the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon.
Former tribal CEO Ray Potter told The Bend Bulletin he was interviewed by HUD's Office of Inspector General. He was fired two days later, he said.
"Unfortunately, there were people who thought the tribe needed to go a different direction financially, and decided that I wasn't the CFO that they wanted to have in that office anymore," Potter told the paper."It did happen two days after I met with federal investigators over an OIG criminal investigation. That's all I can say at this point."
HUD would not confirm or deny an investigation. But a January 2009 report said the tribe failed to comply with health and safety requirements on its rental units. Prior reports uncovered misuse of funds.
