The Department of Justice will host a tribal justice, safety and wellness session in Rapid City, South Dakota, this week.
The session will focus on detention facilities, tribal youth programs, victim’s assistance, suicide prevention, alcohol and substance abuse, community-based partnerships, sex offender management, registration and notification programs and data reporting and information sharing.
Participants will discuss federal grants and contract application and management and reporting requirements, health care, housing and community development and tribal data systems.
Participants include federal officials, Oglala Sioux Tribe President Theresa Two Bulls, Santee Sioux Tribe Chairman Roger Trudell and National Congress of American Indians Vice President Juana Majel Dixon.
The session takes place June 16-June 18 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, 444 N. Mount Rushmore Road, in Rapid City. For more information, visit www.tribaljusticeandsafety.gov.
