The House Natural
Resources Committee will hold an open markup session next Wednesday, June 16.
Two of the bills on the agenda address tribal land issues. H.R.4445,
the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Clarification Act, clarifies a land and
jurisdiction issue for the Indian Pueblo Council Center
in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while H.R.1554,
the Fountainhead Property Land Transfer Act, places land in trust for the Muscogee Nation of
Oklahoma.
The third bill, H.R.2340,
the Salmon Lake Land Selection Resolution Act, finalizes a land conveyance to
the Bering Straits Native
Corporation of Alaska.
The bills were considered at a hearing on April 21. The Obama administration supported all three bills.
The markup will take place at 10am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building.
