A member of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan was sentenced to nearly 18 years in federal prison for a kidnapping incident.

Juan L. Montoya-Pego, 28, admitted that he kidnapped and took part in an assault on the reservation in July 2009. The victim, Farhang Silevany, was attacked, tied up, put into the trunk of a car and dumped in an alley.

For his role, Montoya-Pego was sentenced to 215 months plus two years of supervised release. Nickol M. Jackson, 27, was sentenced to 30 months plus two years of supervised release for pleading guilty to assault with intent to commit a felony.
