Two members of the Navajo Nation will face each other for a seat on the San Juan County Commission in New Mexico.
GloJean Todacheene defeated five other tribal members to win the Democratic primary on Tuesday. She will face Republican Pete K. Atcitty, who ran unopposed.
The winner of the November general election will represent District 1 on the commission. The district is located entirely within reservation boundaries.
About 38 percent of the county population is Native American, according to the 2000 Census.
