A 19-year-old was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Heather Rae
Thurier, a Native woman who lived in Edmonton.
Colton Barry Ferguson is accused of shooting Thurier at a train station. Thurier, a mother of two, died on the scene.
Ferguson may have connections to Redd Alert, a Native gang. He allegedly wore clothes associated with the gang and may have flashed a gang sign prior to the shooting.
Police are still looking for a backpack they believe Ferguson was carrying at the time of the incident. He reportedly drew his gun out of the backpack.
