The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians outlined plans for a gas station and car wash in Santa Barbara County.
The tribe plans a gas station with five pumps, a 2,500-square-foot convenience store and a 641-square-foot car wash. The project would be located on 1.14 acres near the reservation.
The land is not in trust so the plans must be approved by the county's Central Board of Architectural Review. Most people at a meeting on the issue welcomed the tribe's development, which would replace an aging gas station.
