Quoddy Bay LNG plans to appeal a Bureau of Indian Affairs decision to cancel a lease for a liquefied natural gas terminal with the Passamaquoddy Tribe at
Pleasant Point.
The company signed the deal over five years ago. But tribal leaders withdrew last year and the BIA decided to cancel it.
The lease was the subject of a lawsuit by a group of tribal members known as Nulankeyutmonen Nkihtaqmikon, or We Protect Our Homeland. They said the terminal would harm Split Rock, a sacred site.
